Police update: PSPA declaration at Maryborough

Following meetings between Police and Fraser Coast Regional Council, an updated restricted zone remains in place in the Maryborough CBD as recovery work continues in the flood zone.

Restrictions are currently in place regarding vehicle and pedestrian movements in the area bounded by Lennox, Ellena and Richmond streets, down to the Mary River, back to Sussex Street and Queens Park.

Police and traffic control remains in place and roads in this area are closed to all unauthorised traffic.

The emergency declaration made by police under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) remains in place.

Police, with the assistance of the Fraser Coast Regional Council (FCRC) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), will continue to manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic near and within this area.

Members of the public are asked to stay away from flood-impacted areas due to potential hazards generated by the flood waters.

Assistance is being provided to business owners and other members of the public who require access to flood-impacted areas within the restricted area, in consultation with the Police and FCRC.

The current restrictions will be reviewed and an update will be provided as soon as practicable tomorrow.
