Police update: Public Safety Preservation Act declaration at Nerang, QLD

Police have arrested two men following an emergency declaration at Nerang yesterday afternoon.

Around 2.30pm, officers attended a unit on Rimu Place in regard to two men wanted on Return To Prison warrants.

Four people exited the Rimu Place unit, however the two men allegedly refused to exit their associate’s dwelling.

A Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was declared with an exclusion zone encompassing Riverpark Drive, McLaren Road, Kopwhai Place and Inverness Street.

Following comprehensive negotiations overnight, a 25-year-old Tugun man and a 32-year-old Labrador man surrendered and were taken into custody at 11am today.

The Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) declaration was revoked at 11.15am.

The two men have now been transported to the Southport Watchhouse.
