Police update: Serious assault at Mount Isa

A 22-year-old Sunset man has been charged with grievous bodily harm following a serious assault at a Mount Isa hotel in September.

On Friday, September 4 just after 11pm a group of people at the Marian Street venue were involved in a physical altercation.

A 24-year-old man was allegedly punched in the head multiple times and was knocked to the ground.

A 39-year-old man, who tried to stop the confrontation, was also assaulted and as a result, is receiving ongoing treatment for an eye injury.

The man is due to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on November 4.
