Police have this morning located a 34-year-old Southport man in relation to the discovery of another man on the side of the road at Miami early this morning.
Investigations by police identified the man who they believe can assist them.
A car has also been seized by police at Burleigh Heads.
It follows the discovery of an unconscious man by a member of the public in a grassed area near the Gold Coast Highway around 3.35am today.
The 77-year-old man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries believed to be caused by a traffic incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and continues to appeal for any witnesses or dashcam in the area
