Police update: Unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Shailer Park, QLD

Police have charged a 29-year-old man following the alleged unlawful use of a motor vehicle and discharging a firearm in Shailer Park.

Around 9pm on September 12, police attempted to intercept a stolen vehicle in the Beenleigh area. The driver allegedly failed to stop.

A short time later, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device, but the driver sped away.

On Plantain Road, Shailer Park it is alleged while driving towards police the driver shot at police.

Minutes later, the vehicle was located abandoned on Thistlerow Street.

Police located the man on the roof of a house, and he was taken into custody.

A 29-year-old man from Mount Warren Park has been charged with one count each of driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence (repeat offender), receiving tainted property, evasion offence, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle with prior conviction, acts intended to resist/prevent lawful arrest/detention, dangerous conduct with weapon and unlawful possession of weapons, two counts of possess a dangerous drug and four counts of trespass.

He is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
