Police update: Vehicle arson in Nerang, QLD

Police have arrested a man in relation to the alleged arson of two vehicles at a Nerang gated community on March 2.

It will be alleged that around 12.55am, two men gained entry to the residential complex on Riverview Road and poured petrol over a white 2019 Honda Civic, belonging to a 32-year-old female resident, before lighting it on fire.

The fire destroyed the Honda and damaged another vehicle parked next to it; a yellow 2004 Mitsubishi Colt belonging to a 28-year-old male resident.

A 23-year-old Nerang man was arrested after he attended the Nerang police station yesterday afternoon.

He’s been charged with one count of arson and is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on March 31.

Investigations continue in regard to the second man.
