Police update: Wounding, Broadbeach Waters

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into a wounding at a shopping centre on Hooker Boulevard, Broadbeach Waters in November.

About 5.30pm on November 7, a man allegedly slashed a 19-year-old security guard’s hand with a knife after stealing three handbags from a luxury store in the centre.

The security guard required treatment in hospital for his injuries.

Following an extensive investigation led by detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, a 25-year-old Kangaroo Point man was arrested yesterday in relation to the incident.

He has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, enter premises and commit indictable offence and going armed to cause fear.

The man has been refused police bail and is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today (December 14).
