Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says Australia needs to have a leader of the principle, character and conviction of former Liberal Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies.
Sir Robert played a central role in the creation of the Liberal Party of Australia, defining its policies and its broad outreach.
He is Australia’s longest-serving prime minister, serving more than 18 years in total.
Senator Bernardi has told Paul Murray Live on Sky News that since Menzies’ day, the fundamentals of Australian politics have been upended by the push from the Left towards identity politics and political correctness and we need more Conservative Party Senators to push back.
