Pool rules update: Adult supervision required for under 15s

As our region’s pools begin to reopen for spring and summer, parents and guardians are advised that children under 15 years of age must have adult supervision at public swimming pools in Adaminaby, Berridale, Bombala and Jindabyne.

Council has recently signed on to Royal Life Saving Australia’s Keep Watch at Public Pools program, which aims to eliminate all drowning deaths and reduce the number of near drownings at public pools. Keep Watch is the highest standard in Australia for public swimming pool safety.

New signage is being prepared and installed at Council’s public swimming pools in Adaminaby, Berridale, Bombala, and Jindabyne. These signs are in-line with the requirements of the Keep Watch program, and provide easy information about safety and rules at our region’s pools.

Council can ask for proof of age and request that any patron leave the pool should they not have the required supervision, or if they are not adhering to pool rules.

Reopening dates for public pools across the region were announced last week, and are available on our website or by contacting us directly.

Jindabyne Pool reopened on Saturday 23 September.
