Our recent work to maintain the breakwater at the Dawesville Cut, south of Mandurah, has also ensured there is a decent wave for bodyboarders and surfers for the next 30 years.
Known as the Mandurah Wedge, the surf break on the southern side of the breakwater is prized by locals.
When our engineers consulted the community about the scheduled, routine $1.3 million refurbishment of the breakwater they were reassured would not affect wave formation, with the slope and alignment of the rock wall remaining unchanged to avoid any impact to backwash or wave quality.
Recognising the significance of the surf break, the intent was always to maintain the 30-year-old structure’s form and ensure its ongoing structural integrity.
Following the completion of the project in May 2026 local bodyboarders and surfers have expressed their strong support for our work on the breakwater and continuing to enjoy the unchanged break.
