The Devonport Regional Gallery is thrilled to invite residents and photography enthusiasts to participate in PORTAL 2023, a community photography project that aims to capture the vibrant essence of coastal life on the North West Coast of Tasmania. This exciting project encourages participants to showcase their photography skills and connect with the community through the lens of their cameras. Portal 2023 will highlight the beauty and diversity of coastal living on the Spring equinox, Saturday, 23rd September 2023.
On this day, the Sun crosses the equator, heralding the arrival of spring and capturing the unique moments that make life on the coast so special. PORTAL will enable photographers to capture the many moments that make up our lives on the North West Coast of Tasmania, through this special community photography project. Images must be taken within the North West Coast region, which covers east from Port Sorell, through to Smithton, south to Rosebery and across the highlands into Sheffield.
Convention & Arts Centre Manager Geoff Dobson said, “Portal 2023 is an excellent opportunity for residents and photographers to come together, to celebrate the natural beauty of the North West Coast and share their artistic vision with a broader audience”. “We encourage everyone to take part in this exciting project and look forward to receiving your captivating coastal photographs, which will be included in a public exhibition at the Devonport Regional Gallery” Mr Dobson said.
To participate in this project, register your details to receive a reminder by Thursday 21 September 2023 with the Devonport Regional Gallery – [email protected], capture an image on Saturday 23 September 2023, and submit and share this by Monday 9 October 2023. Photographs are to be emailed to [email protected], and should include your full name, contact information and details about your photo (e.g., time, location, subject, and the story behind the photo).
Submissions will be showcased between 27 October and 25 November 2023, at the Devonport Regional Gallery as part of the PORTAL 2023 exhibition.
