Positive results from satisfaction survey

The people of Kingston have given Council a solid rating for overall performance in this year’s independent Community Satisfaction Survey.

Coordinated by the Department of Government Services, and conducted by JWS Research between January and March, the survey involved 400 randomly selected Kingston households.

Participants provided their insights into Council’s overall performance; value for money in services and infrastructure; community consultation and engagement; decisions made in the interest of the community; customer service, local infrastructure, facilities, and services; and the overall direction of the organisation.

Mayor Hadi Saab welcomed our overall performance score of 62, well above the state-wide average of 56, with 53% of those surveyed rating Kingston as either ‘Very Good’ or ‘Good’.

“Our councillors and staff are passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive community, providing high-quality services, and delivering value for money outcomes. While there is always room for improvement, it is encouraging that the work being done is generally appreciated by our residents,” Cr Saab said.

“We performed better than the state-wide average in almost all service areas, scoring particularly strongly in the key areas of art centres and libraries, customer service, recreational facilities, and waste management.

“On the other hand, there was a drop in our value for money rating in these challenging economic times, and the planning results were lower than we’d like to see, though still in line with the state-wide average.

“This annual survey provides us some really valuable data, allows us to benchmark what we are doing with our peers, and will inform our processes and focus areas moving forward as we strive for continual improvement.”
