The Allan Labor Government has appointed principals that will lead at six new schools in Melbourne’s surging growth corridors – which are set to open for Term 1 next year.
Minister for Education Ben Carroll today announced the principal appointments for the six new schools as part of the Labor Government’s $573.1 million school construction program in the Victorian Budget 2023/24.
The new principals are:
- Kristy Miller, Clyde North Primary School (interim name)
- Leanne Winfield, Clyde North Secondary School (interim name)
- Zania Cope, Pakenham North West Primary School (interim name)
- Nicole O’Brien, Riverdale North Primary School (interim name)
- Nicole Walker, Thompsons West Primary School (interim name)
- Rebecca Spink, Wollert Central Primary School (interim name)
The interim school names will soon be updated with First Nations names, with the naming process already underway in close consultation with Traditional Owner groups.
The new principals will now begin to prepare for the 2025 school year, recruiting teachers and staff and designing a curriculum for their new school communities.
Over the past nine years, the Labor Government has invested more than $14.9 billion in Victoria’s education infrastructure, with the school building boom creating more than 21,200 jobs in construction and other industries.
The Government is getting on with the job of building new schools in communities that need them most, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024, and another 14 in planning or construction.
