Producing more high-quality coaches in Tasmania

Nic Street, Minister for Sport and Recreation

Applications for the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Coaching Centre and Women in Sport Coaching Scholarships are now open.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said up to six Tasmanian coaches will be given the opportunity to further develop and progress within the high-performance sporting pathway.

“These scholarships are delivered through the TIS Coaching Centre with support from Womensport and Recreation Tasmania, meaning successful applicants will have access to some of the best sporting and coaching expertise in the State,” he said.

“As we endeavour to train world-class athletes, we need to identify and support the next generation of coaches to help get us to the top level of sport locally, nationally and internationally.

“These scholarships not only build experience and expertise, but they also have a specific goal of increasing leadership opportunities for our best coaches.

“While the TIS scholarships are open to anyone looking to progress in the coaching ranks, the Women Coaching Scholarships will provide support to see more females leading sport in Tasmania, especially at the top level.

“Both scholarships will provide quality coach development and learning opportunities as well as encouraging progression along the coaching development pathway through financial and other supports.”

Applications for both scholarships close on Friday, 11 August 2023.
