Professor Dion Stub announced as Heart Foundation’s new Chair of its Victorian Advisory Board

The National Heart Foundation of Australia welcomes the recent appointment of Professor Dion Stub as the Chair of its Victorian Advisory Board.

Professor Stub will replace Dr Angela Jackson, who is stepping down from the role of Chair, but is continuing her support of the organisation by continuing to serve as an Advisory Board member.

Professor Stub is an Interventional Cardiologist and co-director of the Centre Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics Monash University, with leadership positions on major pre-hospital and hospital cardiac registries in Victoria.

He has published more than 250 papers and delivered multiple presentations in both cardiac emergencies and structural heart intervention. He has been internationally recognised for his research.

He currently holds the National Heart Foundation Future Leader and NHMRC Fellowships to support his clinical research and is cardiology medical advisor to Ambulance Victoria.

Heart Foundation Victorian General Manager Chris Enright said the appointment of Professor Stub to the role of Chair was in keeping with the organisation’s focus on maintaining high level expertise to provide advice and guidance.

“Dion is a highly-credentialled medical expert who has great leadership qualities. His inclusive style means he works well with those around him and will effectively lead the highly regarded membership of the Advisory Board” Ms Enright said.

“He embraces the Heart Foundation’s vision for better heart health for all Australians, regardless of their postcodes.

“It’s a privilege to welcome him as Chair and I am very much looking forward to working with him in the role. We know that he’s going to add another dynamic element to the organisation.”

Ms Enright said that she was delighted to retain Dr Angela Jackson (outgoing Chair) as an Advisory Board member.

“Dr Jackson is a health economist who has worked at the highest levels of Government. Along with her untiring commitment to the Heart Foundation, she works for the betterment of many other critical organisations,” Ms Enright said.

Heart Foundation CEO David Lloyd said the appointment of Professor Stub as Chair of the Victorian Advisory Board would only help the organisation grow stronger.

“We are all very much looking forward to working with Dion to continue our important work to the communities across Victoria,” he said.

“Although we’ve undeniably made massive strides in dealing with heart disease, it is still the Victoria’s single largest cause of premature death and disability, and the questions that remain to be addressed are complex.”
