Property Council WA welcomes Premier Mark McGowan’s $150m housing plan

Property Council WA has welcomed the State Government’s $150 million Housing Investment Program – to invest in social housing, fix existing stock and extend the Keystart program.

Property Council WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer said housing affordability is the Property Council’s top advocacy priority and measures to stimulate the economy and create jobs are very welcome.

“Today’s initiatives, including spending $125 million on more than 300 new public housing units, refurbishing existing housing and setting aside $19.2 million for 200 shared equity Keystart loans, will go a long way to ensuring that housing is more affordable for more West Australians,” Ms Brewer said.

“We believe in policy settings that create more affordable and diverse housing options.”

Ms Brewer said the State Government’s commitment to supporting the residential construction sector will create jobs and address community concerns about access to affordable housing and measures to support the homeless.
