Property crime in Darwin

Officers from Strike Force Trident have charged two youths, aged 12 and 13 with property crime offences.

Between 25 October 2020 and 17 January 2021, the two youths were allegedly involved in multiple property crime incidents targeting small businesses in Darwin.

The 12-year-old was charged with:

  • 14 X stealing
  • 1 X damage to property
  • 1 X unlawful entry – dwelling
  • 1 X attempt to commit an offence

He will appear in Darwin Local Court today.

The 13-year-old was charged with:

  • 4 X stealing

He was bailed and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Jordan said, “Strike Force Trident is currently investigating a number of shop stealings in the northern suburbs and Palmerston over the past months.

“We expect that a number of other youths will be brought before the courts in the near future.”
