Property offenders in Whitsundays, QLD

Whitsunday detectives investigating a number of offences across the region over the past two months, including dangerous driving, evade police, stealing of vehicles and other property crime, have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their investigations.

The man is travelling with a woman with police warning accommodation providers that the pair allegedly leave without paying and that they have also been involved in fuel drive-offs at local service stations, as well as other opportunistic property crime.

Some offences police are investigating include:

  • Evade police incidents on February 22 at 3.15pm on the Bruce Highway at Gunyarra and 1.20am on February 23 on Airlie Esplanade at Airlie Beach.
  • Around 10.20am on March 18 police patrolling Mandalay attempted to intercept a vehicle with the car initially stopping. As an officer approached the vehicle it will be alleged the male driver reversed the car at sped, narrowly missing the officer, before crashing into the police car and then speeding away.

This vehicle was located abandoned in Golden Orchid Drive, Airlie Beach later that day with police alleging a search of the vehicle located methylamphetamine and pethidine.

  • A vehicle was stolen from a Fitzalan Street, Bowen home in the early hours of April 12 and was involved in a fuel drive-off at a Bruce Highway, Bowen roadhouse that morning before being found abandoned on the Bruce Highway between Kuttabul and Mt Ossa at around 9am.
  • On the evening of April 19 a man riding a motorcycle was involved in a fuel drive-off as well as the theft of property including a pair of boots, tools and food from a Bruce Highway, Bloomsbury service station.
  • On April 22 a man and woman allegedly failed to pay for accommodation at Airlie Beach.

The man and woman are known to frequent and have associates located in the Bowen, Proserpine, Mackay and Whitsunday areas.

The man is described as Caucasian, 24, approximately 178cms tall with a thin build and shoulder length dark hair. He has a number of tattoos including:

  • Female face with large blue necklace holding dagger and blue flowers (right shoulder)
  • Coffin (Base of right thumb)
  • Female mermaide blue tail on anchor (lower left forearm interior)
  • Skulls with banner “Smile – Cry” (Left forearm exterior)
  • Cross (left middle finger)
  • Nazi Swastika (left ring finger)

The woman is 28, also Caucasian with a solid build and long dark hair.
