Proposed Extension of Glenelg Dry Area

The City of Holdfast Bay is investigating a proposal to extend the existing Glenelg Dry Area to cover the entire length of Jetty Road, Glenelg.

A ‘Dry Area’ or ‘Dry Zone’ is an area where the consumption or possession of liquor in open containers is prohibited under the Liquor Licensing Act 1997. The purpose of a Dry Area is to minimise any potential risk or negative impact on the amenity of a public area caused by anti-social behaviour associated with excessive alcohol consumption.

The current Glenelg Dry Area covers Moseley Square, parts of the Glenelg Foreshore and Colley, and Wigley Reserves. A proposal to extend the dry area would include the length of Jetty Road, Glenelg.

We invite you to share your views on the proposal to extend the Glenelg Dry Area.

This engagement starts Thursday 23 November – Wednesday 13 December 2023.
