Proposed Victorian electricity default offer for 2025-26 to be announced tomorrow

Essential Services Commission

The Essential Services Commission will release its draft decision on the Victorian Default Offer by a media release and website news story at 7am tomorrow, Thursday 13 March.

The Victorian Default Offer is an electricity price that:

  • gives Victorians access to a fair electricity deal, even if they are unable or unwilling to engage in the retail market.
  • acts as a reference price so customers can more easily compare different deals in the market.
  • is the maximum amount electricity retailers can charge customers in embedded networks, such as apartment buildings and office blocks.

Different to Australian Energy Regulator’s default market offer

This is different to the Australian Energy Regulator’s default market offer, which does not apply in Victoria – it applies to New South Wales, South Australia and south-east Queensland.
