Public Information and Inquiry Centre opens for power outages in Sydney’s north

The Public Information and Inquiry Centre (PIIC) has been opened in relation to the power outage affecting suburbs throughout Sydney’s north.

Many thousands of properties still don’t have power after Tuesday’s storms and some properties won’t get power back until at least Sunday (1 December 2019).

To help us prioritise these efforts, we are asking members of the community to check on any friends or neighbours you believe might be vulnerable and in need of assistance.

It doesn’t matter whether or not you are friends or perhaps haven’t even spoken.

If you know of anyone in your street or area who is elderly or vulnerable, we are asking that you take a few minutes to knock on their door and ask how they are.

If you have any concerns, please contact the PIIC on 1800 227 228. If anyone’s life is in danger, call emergency Triple Zero (000) immediately.

This is a team effort and everyone’s help is appreciated.

If you see fallen powerlines always assume they are live and stay at least eight metres away.

Please do not attempt to move or bundle fallen wires or attach tape or ribbon to them. You can report fallen wires to Ausgrid on 13 13 88 or https://www.ausgrid.com.au/In-your-community/Report-a-problem
