Pursuit arrest Glengowrie

A man has been arrested after a brief pursuit in Glengowrie this morning.

Just after 2am Thursday 6 April Southern District police were patrolling along Morphett Road when they spotted a Mitsubishi Magna driving at high speed. Patrols attempted to stop the Mitsubishi but it failed to do so and took off into the back streets.

Police briefly pursued the car before terminating due to safety reasons. Other patrols quickly converged on the area and sighted the Mitsubishi speeding south on Diagonal Road where it allegedly ran a red light.

Southern patrols saw the vehicle head in to the back streets of Dover Gardens, before the driver dumped the car on Folkestone Road and fled on foot. The 30-year-old Greenacres man was quickly run down by patrols after a short foot chase and placed under arrest.

He has been charged with dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, drive unregistered and uninsured, drive unlicenced and carry an article of disguise after police located two balaclavas in his possession. He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
