Put your food scraps to good use

If you’ve been wanting to try your hand at worm farming at home, now is the time to make it happen.

Mitchell Shire Council is hosting a Worm Farming workshop on Saturday 5 October, to help residents learn how to set up and maintain a worm farm at home.

And it’s great timing too, because for the month of October, Council is offering a Worm Farm and Compost Bin Subsidy, where you can claim up to 50 per cent back for any worm farm or compost bin purchased at one of our participating retailers in Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour and Wallan (capped at $50 for worm farms and $30 for compost bins).

To claim the Worm farm and Compost bin subsidy offer, simply download a claim form from our website or pick up one from a participating retailer, purchase your compost bin or worm farm, then send your claim to Council within seven days for your rebate.

Participating retailers include:

  • Broadford – Broadford Timber and Hardware
  • Kilmore – Kilmore Mitre 10
  • Seymour – Seymour Timber and Hardware
  • Wallan – Pretty Sally Home and Garden

The workshop will be held from 10am to 12pm at the Broadford Living and Learning Centre, and bookings are essential as places are limited. To book your spot visit our worm compost page or call the Broadford Living and Learning Centre on 5784 4600.
