QIC donates $100,000 of household goods to Townsville flood victims

The Palaszczuk Government has welcomed plans by QIC and its investors to coordinate a donation of more than $100,000 of brand-new goods for those in need following the Townsville floods.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad said QIC had collaborated with their Townsville-based shopping centre Domain Central and its retailers on the donation.

“For those who have lost everything through these devastating floods, this practical donation will go a long way toward helping many people in the community to start rebuilding their homes and lives,” Ms Trad said.

“By working closely with the more than 60 retailers at Domain Central, this donation is allowing the collation of household necessities, such as washing machines, bed linen, and household electronics, to be distributed to those most in need.

“I commend local Townsville businesses like Domain Central and its retailers, who are digging deep to provide assistance to those who have been severely affected by the unprecedented damage caused due to this flooding.”

The items to be donated are being collected through the assistance of GIVIT’s Queensland Flood Appeal and Townsville Rotary, and are expected to be delivered in the coming weeks.
