QPS suspends internal training

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has suspended Operational Skills Training (OST) and non-essential training to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

This approach will take effect from Thursday, 19 March 2020 and remain in place until further notice.

This will result in the reassignment of some roles involved with non-essential training and OST delivery to our frontline. This will bring the QPS in line with other national jurisdictions who are taking similar precautions to protect their workforce.

These changes are not expected to have any impact on our operational readiness or capacity and the decision has been made to minimise health risks to our staff.

The QPS is constantly conducting risk assessments and considering health and safety advice to ensure community and officer safety as the COVID-19 situation unfolds.
