For one day only Australians can help find loving homes for as many vulnerable, homeless animals as possible when their donations will be doubled during RSPCA’s Give To Get Them Home appeal on Thursday, 7th October 2021.
RSPCA across the country will unite for the one-day only event, creating an incredible opportunity for animal lovers to have a large-scale impact on the 120,000 plus animals RSPCA cares for each year. In Victoria, RSPCA shelters cared for more than 14,700 animals in need in the last year alone.
Each year thousands of animals arrive at RSPCA shelters across the country, neglected, abandoned or homeless. Sadly, some animals can spend many months in RSPCA’s care until they find their forever home. Funds raised through Give To Get Them Home allow the dedicated teams at RSPCA to provide lifesaving treatment when the animals need it most. Every dollar raised can make a difference to an animal’s life.
RSPCA Victoria CEO Dr Liz Walker said that for those who have considered donating to RSPCA, the time to do it is Thursday 7th October.
“Last year, RSPCA Victoria received more than 71,346 reports of animal cruelty. The animals who come into our care require individual attention, sometimes including veterinary treatment to prepare them for their forever homes.
“On Give To Get Them Home day, our generous partners and donors match public donations offering Victorians the opportunity to double their impact and help us rehome all the animals in need that come through our doors,” said Dr Walker.
RSPCA Victoria relies on community support in order to care for animals in need.
The average cost of care for an animal rescued from cruelty and neglect by RSPCA Victoria’s Inspectors is more than $1,000.
Every donation made on Give To Get Them Home day on 7th of October will go twice as far and help vulnerable animals in need across Victoria. A donation of $75 will become $150, and $250 will become $500.
All money raised for Give To Get Them Home on Thursday 7th October will go directly to help homeless, neglected and abused animals in the community, and support RSPCA’s animal welfare advocacy and education work.
