Racial Harassment Arrest

State Security Investigation Group detectives have charged a man as part of an extensive and ongoing investigation into a series of racially motivated incidents.
It will be alleged on 30 occasions between April 2018 and July 2020 the man placed signs written on various items with ideologically motivated symbols and offensive words, placing them in the Belmont and Rivervale areas.
On Wednesday, 18 November 2020 detectives from the State Security Investigation Group executed a search warrant at a residence in Redcliffe where a58-year-old man was arrested and several items of interest were seized.
The man has since been charged with ‘Conduct Intended to Racially Harass’ and “Possess Controlled Weapon’. He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 9 December 2020.
A WA Police Force spokesperson said there is no place for racism in our community.
“The content we are alleging was posted on the signs by the accused man has no place in our community, and it is not reflective of the views held by members of the diverse and multi-cultural community we are all proud to be part of.”
“WA Police are committed to investigating offences that are intended to harass or intimidate members of our community. This arrest highlights that offenders will be identified, and they will be prosecuted.”
