Rainmaker Group announces acquisition of Industry Moves
The Rainmaker Group, publisher of Financial Standard and Money magazine, has added to its growing media portfolio with its acquisition of Industry Moves , Australia’s leading publication on executive recruitment, leadership & management and product development within financial services.
“Industry Moves is well aligned with our mission to be the primary source of news, information and analysis to the industry’s most influential executives and senior decision makers,” said Financial Standard’s executive director of media Michelle Baltazar.
The financial services industry is the second largest industry in the country and is projected to employ over 455,000 jobs by 2023.
“Understanding human capital and employment trends in the industry has never been more important and I see Industry Moves playing a vital role in connecting this growing sector,” said Baltazar.
“We look forward to increasing the publication’s readership footprint and explore its synergies with Financial Standard and our suite of quarterly advice, private wealth and superannuation journals,” she said.
Launched in 2014 by Debbie Wilkes and Katrina Mathieson, Industry Moves provides information on the people, organisations, and new products relevant to Australia’s diverse institutional, wholesale and retail finance industry.
“We are proud of the product we’ve created, however it was time for us to move on to new challenges,” said Wilkes.
“We are glad to be leaving Industry Moves in good hands.”
Rainmaker has also announced the appointment of Justin Cleveland in the newly-created role of managing editor, with full oversight of the publication.
“Justin has a unique mix of finance and media experience that makes him well equipped to continue to grow Industry Moves,” said Baltazar.
Cleveland worked previously as the content producer for Australian Catholic Superannuation and as a digital news director for Clear Channel Media in the US.
“I’m excited to tell the stories of people who are doing new, different, and interesting things in finance,” said Cleveland.
Penny Pryor will continue with Industry Moves as editor of the products section of the website.
The acquisition of Industry Moves is the fourth in 2019 for Rainmaker, including Money magazine in March and industry-focused publications The Sustainability Report and Audacious Investing last month.
