Raptor Squad charges after social media images show teen allegedly posing with firearms

Raptor Squad officers have arrested and charged a Western Sydney teen with possessing multiple firearms as police continue to crack down on Western Sydney youth gangs under Strike Force Impede.

Officers attached to State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad established Strike Force Impede in August 2023 to investigate youth gangs involved in violent crimes across Sydney and the filming of these incidents for social media.

As inquiries continued, strike force officers investigating an unrelated incident located footage of a teenaged boy allegedly posing with multiple firearms.

Following investigations, Raptor Squad officers executed a search warrant about 6am today (Tuesday 10 September 2024), at a home in Eastern Creek.

Officers attached to Strike Force Impede allegedly located and seized electronic devices and personal items and arrested a 17-year-old boy.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with two counts of acquire prohibited firearm subject prohibition order, and two counts of possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.

The 17-year-old boy was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
