Raptor Squad officers have charged two teenage girls with alleged stealing and traffic offences following a pursuit in the state’s Southern Highlands yesterday.
About 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 12 August 2026), police received a report that a Mercedes station wagon had been allegedly stolen from a car park on Inman Road, Cromer, earlier that day.
About 10.30am the same day, officers from The Hume Police District sighted the Mercedes on the Hume Motorway, Berrima.
Police activated their warning lights and attempted to stop the Mercedes, however, when the driver failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued north on the Hume Motorway until the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns near the Bargo exit.
About 1.30pm the same day, officers from the Raptor Squad located the Mercedes in a car park on Elizabeth Drive, Kemps Creek, and arrested two girls, aged 17 and 15, in a store nearby.
Both girls were taken to Liverpool Police Station where the older girl was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
The younger girl was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner.
Both girls were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Thursday 13 August 2026).
