Bankstown detectives have released CCTV images of a man they believe may assist with inquiries after two men were charged following an alleged aggravated kidnapping in Sydney’s south west last month.
On Saturday 15 August 2026, officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of an alleged kidnapping at a business on Works Place, Milperra.
Police were told about 3pm that day, two men allegedly gained access to the address, before detaining and assaulting a 64-year-old man.
About one hour later, the pair allegedly left the address, taking property and cash.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after the man was located seriously injured by members of the public.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries to his face, arms and legs before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released.
Detectives attached to Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Magmaas.
Following extensive inquiries, just after 6.30am yesterday (Tuesday 22 September 2026), police executed search warrants at two homes in Oatley and Caringbah South.
A 46-year-old man was arrested at the Oatley address, whilst a 42-year-old man was arrested at the address in Caringbah South.
The men were taken to Sutherland Police Station where they were both charged with aggravated robbery and deprives person of liberty, and driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required.
They were both refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Wednesday 23 September 2026).
As part of ongoing investigations, detectives have released CCTV images of a man they believe may assist with inquiries.
The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and is depicted wearing a high-visibility yellow and black hooded jumper, with black pants and black shoes.
He was seen on McGirr Street, Padstow, about 4pm on Saturday 15 August 2026.
