RE100 Leadership Awards shortlist: companies going above and beyond on

  • 15 major companies from around the world shortlisted for inaugural RE100 Leadership Awards – winners to be announced at Climate Week

  • Six leadership categories cover the range of ways in which companies are using their influence to accelerate the clean energy transition

Wednesday 19 August 2020, London: As the countdown begins to Climate Week NYC (21-27 September) and faster pursuit of a net-zero carbon future, leading global companies including Apple, Chanel and Ricoh are today being shortlisted for awards on clean energy.

RE100 is a global initiative led by international non-profit the Climate Group in partnership with CDP, now bringing together more than 250 major businesses committed to 100% renewable power.

For the first time, the inaugural RE100 Leadership Awards, delivered in partnership with ENGIE North America, will recognise member companies going ‘above and beyond‘ in the transition to 100% renewable electricity.

The shortlisted companies span wide range of sectors, from technology and manufacturing to pharmaceuticals and fashion. They are from a diverse list of geographies including Europe, the US, Japan and Taiwan.

The judges bring with them a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise to the judging process.

Shortlisted companies:

Clean Energy Trailblazer, in partnership with DWS – recognising the most ambitious companies that are seizing opportunities across the clean energy transition:

Most Collaborative Leader, in partnership with Enel Green Power – for companies sharing their learnings with peers to enable a faster transition to 100% renewable electricity:

  • Novo Nordisk

  • Ricoh

  • Workday

Best Green Catalyst – recognising the companies that are working with their suppliers to switch to renewable energy:

  • Apple

  • AB InBev

  • DSM

Best Community Changemaker – recognising members that are generating wider benefits through their renewable energy projects, such as new jobs or a reduction in local pollution:

  • Chanel

  • Clif Bar

  • Hair O’Right

Best Policy Influencer – for companies seizing opportunities to help bring about supportive policy changes to sourcing renewable electricity:

  • LONGi

  • Salesforce

  • QTS

Most Impactful Pioneer – recognising companies that are bringing clean alternatives to areas previously dependent on fossil fuels:

  • Iron Mountain

  • Novo Nordisk

  • TSMC

To enter, the companies submitted video clips demonstrating their leadership in their chosen sector, supported by written evidence. The Climate Group will promote the shortlisted company clips on social media over the coming weeks, and announce the winners at Climate Week NYC.
