Ready to celebrate Santos Festival of Cycling in 2021

We are encouraging a big community welcome to the Santos Festival of Cycling when the district showcases Stage 2, Birdwood to Lobethal, on Friday 22 January 2021.

A new and reimagined cycling event, the Santos Festival of Cycling will be a six-day domestic cycling festival encompassing road, track, paracycling, BMX, mountain bikes, and cyclo-cross. This celebration was created in response to the significant challenges of hosting the Santos Tour Down Under in 2021, and will replace the international event in January while COVID restrictions continue.

Stage 2 will feature both men’s and women’s races departing from the Birdwood Motor Museum and concluding outside of Golding Wines in Lobethal. The looping route will also take in Mount Torrens, Woodside, and Mylor, with the men’s race boasting the addition of a hill climb up Cudlee Creek Road.

The route was chosen with recovery in mind, giving our community a chance to not only support our national athletes, but show the nation and the world how we are bouncing back after the fire-affected landscape dominated the race in 2020.

All event program details and festival events can be found at the Santos Tour Down Under website, which will be updated as information about further disciplines is released.

The start and finish of Stage 2 in the hills will be conducted as a free, ticketed event with numbers limited in line with a COVID safe plan. Tickets will be available from Monday 14 December 2020 from the Santos Tour Down Under ticketing page.
