Real Estate professionals recognised in Awards for Excellence

Elise Archer, Minister for Workplace Safety and Consumer Affairs,

It was my pleasure to attend the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania’s (REIT) annual Awards for Excellence in Hobart this evening to celebrate the work of our real estate professionals across the State.

The Awards are an opportunity for the profession to celebrate its achievements and recognise the real estate industry’s top performers.

Since 2007, the REIT has presented the Awards for Excellence, in line with the National Awards for Excellence conducted by the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA), to highlight the achievements of Tasmania’s real estate leaders.

The Awards are designed to encourage, recognise and promote excellence and best practice in the profession and such recognition comes at a notable time for the Real Estate sector.

The Tasmanian real estate market has been incredibly competitive, with property in extremely high demand from both local and interstate purchasers.

As at July of this year, sales numbers were up 25 per cent on last year, with cumulative sales value up over $900 million, or 48 per cent on last year.

This demanding environment has placed significant pressures on the industry, however it is pleasing that Tasmania’s real estate professionals have admirably risen to this challenge.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting Tasmania’s real estate industry to continue to create clarity for buyers and sellers in the way the real estate industry does business in Tasmania.

Congratulations all those individuals and organisations who received awards tonight, as well as those who were nominated across the various categories, and I thank each of them for their contribution to Tasmania’s real estate industry.
