REAL Festival returns to the banks of the Nepean River from 11 to 13 September 2026, with a dynamic 3-day program of captivating live entertainment, creative workshops and exciting attractions.
The festival will transform the Nepean River foreshore into a vibrant playground of immersive experiences, live performances, market stalls, food trucks and a diverse range of family-friendly programs, inviting visitors of all ages to explore, discover and connect.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said REAL Festival continues to be one of the city’s most anticipated annual events.
“This year’s theme, Flight, reflects an exciting new chapter for Western Sydney as the opening of Western Sydney International Airport brings new opportunities, connections and experiences to our region,” Cr Carney said.
“REAL Festival captures that spirit of optimism and possibility through art, entertainment and experiences that encourage people to explore, dream and see the world from a different perspective.”
One of this year’s highlights is Monsters Can’t Fly by The Beautiful & Useful Studio, an imaginative and immersive installation with colourful, larger-than-life monsters to interact with.
Food lovers are in for a treat, with more than 20 food and beverage vendors serving flavours from around the globe, alongside a riverside Boarding Lounge Bar, where visitors can soak up the festival atmosphere.
As the sun sets, the festival transforms into a spectacular riverside experience. The much-loved laser show will light up the night sky above the Nepean River, with dazzling displays every 30 minutes creating a memorable backdrop for visitors to enjoy.
Families can also take part in the returning Lego workshop to build your own flying creation, or call on your inner Picasso, in our glow in the dark community mural.
Meanwhile, older teens can enjoy a dedicated Youth Stage on Friday Night, featuring 4 Leaf Clover along with other emerging artists and witness the spectacular Dauntless Crew as they combine parkour, dance, fire performance and breathtaking stunts.
On Sunday, the focus turns to the river, with free on-water activities including free rides on the iconic Nepean Belle. For the more adventurous there’s the option to take part in paddleboarding and Dragonboat Racing.

Festival is all about bringing people together and creating memorable moments,” Cr Carney said.
Visitors are encouraged to plan and make use of the free Busways shuttle service, operating every 20 minutes between Emu Plains, Penrith Station, Jamison Park and Tench Reserve throughout the festival.
