Reappeal for information after suspicious fire near Orange, NSW

Police are reappealing for information following investigations into a deliberately lit fire in the state’s Central West.

Just after 3am (Saturday 29 June 2019), emergency services were called to a community workshop on the Mitchell Highway at Lucknow, south of Orange.

Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the building was partially damaged.

Officers from Central West Police District attended and with the assistance of investigators attached to Strike Force Filshie, have commenced inquiries into the fire.

Investigators have reviewed CCTV footage which depicts at least one person attempting to set firewood and other items stored alongside the building alight between 2.15am and 2.40am, before the fire spread to the building.

A number of vehicles can be seen driving past at the time.

Police are interested in speaking with truck drivers and other motorists who passed through the area between 1.57am and 2.39am Saturday morning.
