Rebuilding a wall – in North

Russell Vale Wall

Wollongong City Council will this week start work to repair an ageing retaining wall on the Princes Highway at Russell Vale.

The works will begin on 15 May and Council will close one north-bound lane of the highway to complete the works, from Nimbin Street to Hicks Street. There will be message boards in place during the rebuild of the ageing wall which sits on the western side of the Highway.

The works includes:

  • Installation of new concrete facing in front of the existing retaining wall
  • Construction of kerb and gutter and a concrete path along the eastern edge of the service road which sits above the wall
  • Alterations to the existing footpath at either end of the retaining wall to direct pedestrians to the new path.

Works are expected to take about four months, weather permitting.
