From 27 May to 3 June, Australia will recognise National Reconciliation Week (NRW) and the journey we are making towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation.
In 2020, the NRW theme ‘In This Together’ is now resonating in ways we could never have imagined, reinforcing that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation.
From 27 May until 3 June, the City of Perth will be recognising the theme ‘In This Together’ by illuminating Council House in the colours of the Aboriginal Flag, including the theme words. Trafalgar Bridge in East Perth will also light up in red.
Supporting NRW aligns with the delivery of the City’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan.
By playing our part, we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
“The City would like to thank the efforts of the Elders Advisory Group in the vision and implementation of the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan,” Chair Commissioner Andrew Hammond said.
“The implementation of 93 actions in the City’s first RAP has contributed to us building an organisation that recognises and celebrates cultural diversity.
“Reconciliation is all about partnerships and being ‘in this together’ and the relationships between the City and the Elders Advisory Group proves this.”
