Recruitment commences for new GM

Acting General Manager John Rayner commenced this week

The recruitment of a new General Manager for Armidale Regional Council has commenced with the role being advertised from tomorrow.

Interim Administrator Viv May says the recruitment marks the first small step in fixing the issues currently affecting the performance of Council.

“Mark Anderson from Local Government Management Solutions is now well armed with valuable information provided by the community and staff on the best attributes required to lead the operations of Council in the Armidale region,” said Mr May.

“I am hopeful that through this recruitment process we will secure a strong leader with extensive Local Government experience.”

The recruitment process is expected to take three months and in the interim Acting General Manager John Rayner, who commenced this week will steer Council through this period.

“I would like to welcome Mr Rayner to Council and look forward to working with him over the next three months,” said Mr May.

“This week has been a very busy period of adjustment and familiarisation of Council processes and structure for John.

I would like to thank David Kerr who stepped into the position of Interim General Manager at short notice over the last month and who has also assisted in Mr Rayner’s handover.

Lastly I would like to thank the Mayor and CEO of Northern Beaches Council for their assistance in loaning us David’s expertise during this time.”
