Recycal Applies For Development Licence

EPA Victoria has received an application from Recycal Pty Ltd for a development licence to bring their existing operation at 81-85 Heatherdale Rd, Ringwood into compliance with recent changes to laws on the safe operation of recycling facilities. The new laws pay particular attention to managing fire risk.

The application process will ensure Recycal is in compliance with new legal requirements designed to improve the safe operation of recycling facilities across the state following several major fires at other recyclers. It will involve a technical review to establish the facility is appropriately designed and has operating and management processes to achieve compliance, as well as public consultation to gather the views of the local community and make sure their concerns are identified and appropriately considered.

Recycal accepts waste metals, e-waste and hazardous materials for recycling and the application seeks to process up to 20,000 tonnes annually with a storage limit of 1,500 tonnes.
