A Redbank Plains mum can’t wait to surprise her kids with a dream holiday to Japan after scratching her way to a $100,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The woman’s top prize-winning $5 Fruit Explosion Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at NightOwl Fernbrook, Shop 4, 163 Alawoona Street, Redbank Plains.
The winning woman shared the Instant Scratch-Its ticket was the first one she had purchased in many years.
“I’m very excited! It was very unexpected,” she revealed.
“I initially thought it was a $10,000 win. I didn’t read the last word on the ticket. Once I realised it was actually $100,000, I just said, ‘Oh my god! You’re kidding!’.
“It feels like I’m in a fever dream. I haven’t purchased scratchies since I first turned 18 and now, I’m in my late 20s. This was a one-off ticket.
“It was also sitting there for two days unscratched. It’s crazy to think a ticket worth $100,000 was just sitting there for two days!
“I was in disbelief; I still am! I can’t believe it. I told my close family members, and they thought it was some sort of practical joke and that the scratchie was fake!
“I told them, ‘No, it’s real. Where would I even get a ticket like this? I don’t have time for jokes! I’m a busy mum!’.
“They were freaking out once they realised I wasn’t kidding around.
“We had a bit of a barbeque last night to celebrate.
“I think I’ll definitely take the kids to Japan. They keep nagging me to go and it’s been our wishlist for a longtime!
“Thank you!”
