The $3 million CHART Program is giving an important boost to community-run arts and cultural heritage organisations including community museums, galleries and historical societies, with $135,000 flowing to 50 organisations through the first batch of grants.
The CHART program is supporting activities in regional, rural and remote Australia that encourage cultural tourism through cultural expression and sharing stories of community and historical significance with grants of up to $3,000.
Successful grant recipients are receiving vital funding to support the sustainable delivery of unique cultural experiences for visitors to enjoy, and to recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
Activities funded under Batch 1 include: the restoration of information panels, the purchase of equipment to digitise documents and photographs, improving gallery lighting, construction of a touring display case, installation of a new air conditioner in a museum’s office, replacement of dated signage on an historical society’s building and the purchase of tables, chairs and art supplies for an organisation’s cultural centre.
The Australian Museums and Galleries Association (AMaGA) is delivering the program on behalf of the Australian Government.
Eligible arts, cultural and heritage organisations are encouraged to apply for a CHART program grant. Applications are open until 29 April 2022, or until the allocated grant funding is fully committed-whichever comes first.
