Twenty-five housing projects delivering more than 900 homes across regional Western Australia will be supported through the Cook Labor Government’s $75 million Regional Housing Support Fund.
The Fund provides grants to local governments, community housing providers, landowners, and developers to help address the feasibility challenges associated with delivering housing in the regions.
Applications were received through an open and competitive process and were assessed independently.
Eight regions will benefit from the program, with projects located across the State including:
- Wheatbelt – six applicants will receive more than $20 million to deliver 64 homes including key workers and age-friendly independent living units;
- Goldfields-Esperance – three applicants will receive more than $10 million to support the delivery of 118 new homes for key workers and pensioners as well as 36 new residential lots;
- South West – six applicants will share in more than $17.2 million to deliver 527 new residential lots and six affordable rentals for the regions aging population;
- Kimberley – three applicants will receive nearly $7.1 million to deliver 28 key worker accommodation dwellings;
- Pilbara – will benefit from more than $6.7 million for two projects that will deliver 61 new key worker dwellings including for health and community service workers;
- Great Southern – will receive more than $6.6 million across two applications for 23 social and affordable homes as well as independent living units;
- Mid West – three applicants will receive $5.3 million to deliver 20 new community housing and key workers’ homes; and
- Gascoyne – will receive more than $580,000 for one project that will deliver 56 new key worker residences.
More projects were able to be funded thanks to a tripling of the Fund as part of the 2026-2027 State Budget, from $25 million to $75 million.
This included a $25 million contribution from Albanese Labor Government as part of the 100,000 Homes for First Home Buyers initiative, and a matching $25 million top up from the Cook Labor Government

“Our government is committed to building more homes right across Western Australia, which is why we’re delivering $692 million in our latest State Budget to support more regional housing.
“We’re proud to have tripled our investment in the Regional Housing Support Fund this year, which will help deliver hundreds more homes in our regions.
“This fund is enabling our government to partner with local governments, industry, and community groups to overcome barriers to housing delivery so we can get more homes built sooner to support our fast-growing regional communities.”

“Our government recognises that housing projects in regional communities can face additional feasibility challenges and is stepping up to assist communities to overcome these barriers.”
