Registrations now open for WA Data Science for Business Conference and Exhibition

  • Two day event to explore how data science can be used for business innovation and growth
  • Almost 40 speakers and workshop facilitators confirmed, including Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Professor Lyn Beazley
  • Up to 400 industry professionals and data science providers expected to attend 
  • Industry professionals and data science providers and organisations looking to innovate are encouraged to register for the WA Data Science for Business Conference and Exhibition, which will be held at the Pan Pacific Perth from June 22-23.

    Innovation and ICT Minister Stephen Dawson will give the opening address at the conference, highlighting Western Australia’s growing capability in data and analytics.

    Hosted by the WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH), the event will provide a platform to learn more about the latest trends and technologies, network with the WA business community, and share new ways of gaining a competitive advantage using data.

    A partnership between the McGowan Government and Curtin University, WADSIH’s goal is to ensure the State remains at the forefront of the digital revolution by increasing the uptake, education, training and awareness of data science in WA. It also promotes expertise and advocates for increased data literacy.

    Through the second round of the New Industries Fund, the WA Government has committed $1.2 million over the next four years to the hub, building on an earlier investment of $1 million.

    The New Industries Fund supports and accelerates WA’s innovative startups, emerging businesses and small and medium enterprises to diversify local and regional economies and create jobs.

    “The McGowan Government understands how vital data is to business growth, and has committed $2.2 million to the WA Data Science Hub through the New Industries Fund.

    “Hosted by WADSIH, this event will bring together the business community in Western Australia to discuss ways to grow the industry in our State, helping diversify our economy and create new jobs.

    “The inaugural Data Science for Business Conference and Exhibition will bring together the leaders in data and analytics to share the tools needed to drive innovation in business through artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.

    “It will also present an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of data scientists to consider it as a career, and introduce them to the companies that they may be working for in the future.”
