The Territory Labor Government has invested in over 478 activities and events for children, young people and families throughout the Territory in the upcoming (27 June – 19 July) school holiday.
Activities include sporting events and competitions, movie nights, lip sync battles, film festivals, horse riding, arts and crafts, cultural activities, face painting, mini music festival, bush and camping trips and an Amazing Race.
In line with COVID-19 health guidelines, all indoor and outdoor events and activities will adhere to strict physical distancing and hygiene principles.
The program aims to keep young people engaged and off the streets during the school holidays and have fun learning experiences.
Highlights of the June-July school holiday program include:
- Alice Springs has 69 activities including the GET OUT Youth Festival with athletics, soccer, AFL and rugby league, softball and aquatics skills in the indoor pool as well as movies at the cinema, screen printing, Phoney Film Festival short film competition, online cartooning and lantern making.
- Darwin has 76 engaging and diverse activities during the school holidays including an exciting three day youth camp, Youth After Hours program with Danila Dilba and mini music festival with Sasha King’s Two Two One Mental Health Charity. The Shak will be open every day including late night Fridays and will now be open on Saturdays. At Karama Timmy Duggan will be delivering Hoops 4 Health program and there will also be some pool parties at Nightcliff and Casuarina pool.
- Palmerston has 70 activities including sports events, horse riding, learning first aid and arts, cultural activities.
- Tennant Creek/Barkly has 65 activities including movie nights, bush trips, basketball competition, Amazing Race, dodgeball, football, soccer, badminton, arts and craft, face painting, discos, lip sync battle, team building and many other fun activities.
- Katherine has 95 organised events and a specific focus on supporting local businesses, tourism operators and Aboriginal organisations. Activities include arts programs, fun outdoor activities, Nitmiluk Gorge cruises.
- East Arnhem has 103 activities including sports, arts and crafts, audio and music programs, dance, movies, board games, festivals, colour runs and much more.
