Police are appealing for further public assistance following a fatal stabbing in the state’s south last month.
About 1am on Sunday 27 September 2026, emergency services were called to Calimo Street, North Albury, after reports a man had been found injured.
Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended and located a 28-year-old man suffering a stab wound to his neck.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
On Sunday 4 October 2026, detectives were informed the man had died in hospital.
A crime scene was established and detectives attached to Murray River Police District – with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – commenced investigations under Strike Force Metron.
As investigations continue, detectives are appealing for information from members of the public who may have been in the vicinity around the time of the incident or may have information to assist with inquiries.
