Emergency services will tomorrow resume the search for a man last seen near Tweed Heads in 2024.
Patrick Liedke, aged 39, was last seen between 1pm and 2pm on Monday 22 April 2024 at Gray Street in Tweed Heads West.
When he failed to return and could not be located or contacted, officers attached to the Tweed-Byron Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
As part of those inquiries, extensive multi-agency coordinated land searches of the Piggabeen and Currumbin Valley areas were conducted over several days by local police with the assistance of QLD Police, VRA Rescue NSW and NSW SES. The searches were suspended on Wednesday 1 May 2024.
In June 2025, police conducted further searches of bushland around Tweed Heads with the assistance of more than 100 SES and VRA members.
On Friday 3 July 2026, police were called to a property on Bush Creek Road, Cobaki, following reports that personal items had been located.
At the scene, officers seized a driver’s licence, personal cards and a wallet believed to belong to Patrick.
The items were photographed and mapped by specialist forensic police before being seized for further examination.
Following consultation with LANDSAR officers, a search of the area has been planned for tomorrow (Saturday 8 August 2026).
The search will involve local police, assisted by the NSW Police Force Dog Unit, NSW SES, VRA, NSW RFS and NSW Ambulance.
The community will notice an increased police and emergency services presence in the area while the search is being conducted.
Police continue to pursue all lines of inquiry and explore every available lead in their efforts to locate Patrick.
