The pipes are believed to be about 75 years old and the ageing infrastructure needs to be replaced.

The pipes are at the southern end of Thirroul Beach and are within the tidal zone. This means the contractor will have to work around the tides, seas and swell to complete the improvement works.

The majority of Thirroul Beach will be unaffected by the project. There will be limited access to the rock platform between Thirroul and McCauley’s beaches while the work is underway. The work is anticipated to be completed in spring, depending on weather and sea conditions.
