Australia’s largest sustainability and community festival, the Garage Sale Trail, is back this November, and has been re-imagined to keep COVID-safe guidelines in mind.
Garage Sale Trail 2021 events will be hosted online over three weekends from 6 to 21 November. Powered locally by Council, the online festival encourages residents to sell, shop and learn about the circular economy.
Yarra Ranges Mayor, Cr Fiona McAllister said the virtual festival was a win-win for the planet and residents’ pockets.
“Just because COVID has limited our ability in some ways to take part in more traditional garage sales, it doesn’t mean that we can’t give our unwanted items a new loving home,” Cr McAllister said.
“A circular economy means that items are kept in use for as long as possible, delivering the highest value they can, for as long as they can. That’s something I’m sure all Yarra Ranges residents can get behind.”
On 6-7 November, residents can join a Trail Tutorial online masterclass and learn about “fashion, flipping and fixing the planet”.
Featuring experts from the world of fashion, styling, finance and sustainability, workshops cover tips on how to reduce what we waste through reuse and repair. View the schedule at www.garagesaletrail.com.au/learn
Then, over two big online weekends, residents can host a virtual garage sale or shop the Trail for pre-loved bargains all from the comfort (and safety) of their own home.
“Virtual garage sales are perfect for those missing their second-hand shopping fix or looking for a way to bring home some extra cash from any now unwanted goods they may have purchased over lockdown,” Cr McAllister said.
“The Garage Sale Trail team have made it easy with tips, tricks and free promotional materials and incorporating secure, online payments via PayPal.”
