Residents threatened by intruder in Burwood

An investigation is underway after residents were threatened by an intruder at a Burwood unit overnight.

Emergency services were called to the unit on Conder Street about 12:45am (Sunday 9 February 2020), after a man forced his way into the home and confronted the occupants.

The occupants – a 42-year-old man and two women, aged 25 – sprayed the man with ‘pepper spray’ before he fled empty handed.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended, along with Fire and Rescue NSW, to find the three occupants suffering from the effects of the spray. They were decontaminated along with four attending officers.

Police have been told the man is described as being of Pacific islander appearance, of a large build, and wearing a dark t-shirt and black baseball cap.

A crime scene was established, and detectives have commenced an investigation.
